Education, training, learning and development are all things we take very seriously – and we make sure every member of staff enjoys the support and opportunities they need.
Throughout your career with the Trust, you’ll benefit from personal development appraisals and reviews and support with Continuing Professional Development.
Our Learning and Development Team is always on hand to offer advice on the range of courses we offer – including Specialist Resuscitation Training, Leading an Empowered Organisation training, and access to National Vocational Qualifications - and to help you maintain the experience and knowledge you need to develop in your role.
You’ll also benefit from mentoring, opportunities to broaden your experience on rotation, and our commitment to both the Improving Working Lives and the Releasing Time to Care – Productive Ward Programme initiatives.
Other ways that we can support your development include:
Clinical Skills Laboratory
This unique teaching facility provides a fully equipped, safe environment for nurses to learn skills such as catheterisation, wound care, taking blood and medical device training, away from the pressures of a clinical setting. Our study programmes are tailored to your individual learning needs.
Practice Education Facilitators
Working in partnership with the Universities of Central Lancashire and Cumbria, the team aims to provide high quality educational and clinical experiences for students from all disciplines.
Library Services
All Trust staff are entitled to use the modern and welcoming library based in the Education Centre at Victoria Hospital. The wide range of books, journals and online resources will help you access relevant information throughout your career, as well as proving holiday and leisure reading from our fiction collection. The library has excellent study facilities and computers in a comfortable and relaxing environment and our specialist library staff will help you find the information you need, when you need it.
