Allied Health Professionals, Scientists and Technicians

If you’re passionate about technology or science, and about helping others, then this is the place for you. As a large, forward thinking trust, we can offer a wide range of opportunities to play a vital role in the prevention, diagnosis and innovative treatment of a huge number of medical conditions. Not only that, but our ongoing investment in the latest technology and automated systems, and commitment to research and development, mean that we can also offer you a challenging, exciting and rewarding career.

Whichever role you join us in you’ll be an essential member of our team. Your expertise will help us save lives and improve care for thousands of people across the region. In return, we’ll make sure you enjoy every opportunity to update your knowledge and develop your skills.

For example, as a Pharmacist, once you’ve got your Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (if you don’t already have one when you join us, of course we’ll give you all the support you need to gain one) there’s scope here to progress to a more specialist role. That could be either a clinical or technical speciality, or different field such as risk management or education. You’ll also be working with the latest electronic prescribing and automated dispensing equipment.

As a Scientist or Technician, we can help you gain relevant registration if you haven’t already done so when you join us. For example, we’ll support you in developing a specialist portfolio, completing top-up modules and attending MSc and management courses. Each laboratory has its own tailored training programme, while our structured Continued Professional Development schemes also enable you to keep up to date with the latest techniques and technologies.

As a Radiographer, once you’ve graduated, we can offer you opportunities to undertake postgraduate diplomas and certificates in a range of specialist areas including nuclear medicine, computerised tomography, musculo-skeletal ultrasound and vascular imaging. Our busy A&E department offers you the chance to develop your trauma experience, while rotation through various other departments could see you becoming an advanced practitioner in the field of gastrointestinal imaging or mammography reporting, for example. You’ll see there are a number of ways we can help you gain further experience and work your way up to a Band 7 clinical role or Band 8 managerial role.

Or, as a Physiotherapist you’ll benefit from our regular clinical area in-service training and on call competency training. CPD is encouraged and supported, while evidence based practice is actively researched and implemented. Due to the Trust’s quality driven development programme staff numbers in Physio have grown by 40% in recent years. Support for training and development is considered a vital component in the ongoing success and growth of the department. This includes full support and encouragement for those wishing to go down the management route.
