Welcome to the Communications Department.

Through these web pages we aim to keep you up to date with the latest news about the Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The Communications Department is based at Blackpool Victoria Hospital and consists of a Communications Team, a Membership and Communications Officer and a Web Services Team.

Communications Team:

The Communications Team provides specialist communications advice to the Board and senior staff including dealing with issues such as crisis management, press conferences, Parliamentary briefings and the provision of media training for senior staff. The department also handles all media enquiries to the Trust and communicates with all stakeholder groups using a variety of communications channels and media. This includes generating the annual report, press releases, newsletters and a range of other publications for internal and external audiences and ensuring staff, patients and the public are kept informed about the work of the Trust. The team is responsible for implementing staff and public awareness campaigns on high profile topics such as infection prevention. The department also manages a range of Trust events including the Annual Public Meeting, the annual Celebrating Success Awards and Celebration Ball, Staff Achievement Ceremonies and ministerial visits.

The Membership Project Office:

The Membership Project Office develops and implements the Trust's Membership and Recruitment Strategy by promoting recruitment of and communicating with Foundation Trust members, encouraging them to actively participate in the future of the Trust. The Membership Project Office also acts as the key liaison point between the Trust and the Council of Governors.

The Web Development Team:

The Web Development Team assist the Communications Team by providing both a Trust Intranet and Internet service. The Web Team project manages all the online communications requirements ensuring staff, patients, visitors and the general public have easy access to relevant, accurate and up-to-date information on topics relevant to them. The Team also provides specialist IT advice and assistance with the implementation of web based systems within the Trust, as well as general IT advice when needed.
