Formerly known as "Medical Admissions Ward" or "Medical Assessment Unit", the Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU) is open 24 hours per day, every single day of the year. CDU deals with all acute medical problems.
We do not specialise in any one particular area of medicine, but handle all acute medical problems that cannot be dealt with by your GP in the community. We do not ordinarily deal with conditions that require surgery, or that result from traumatic accidents etc, although there are times when patients are referred on to specialists who do just that.
